🐾🌿 : Clients are now talking to AI. Here’s how to make sure it talks about you

Hi, Reader,

The other week, a potential client didn’t find me through Google or Ecosia.

He found me through ChatGPT.

He was brainstorming ideas for a responsible travel campaign and asked who he could reach out to for marketing help.

And there I was, first on the list.

SEO alone won’t increase your visibility. How AI understands you will.

People aren’t only typing keywords now. They’re talking to ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.

And those tools read your tone, structure, and consistency across the web.

They don’t just crawl your website. They read your social profiles, your interviews, your About page, your community pages, even mentions in other people’s content.

They connect it all back to your name.

This is what’s now called AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): How AI tools decide whose answers to quote when people ask for help.

So, if someone says,

ā€œWho can help me refresh my brand so it finally feels professional?ā€

or

ā€œWho can help our NGO communicate our impact clearly so that it doesn't sound like we're begging?ā€

AI isn’t guessing. It’s quoting. It's looking for alignment.

Here’s how to make sure it quotes you:

↳ 1. Speak in answers, not slogans.

Your homepage and About section should sound like you’re responding to real questions, not reciting a tagline.

Example: "I create ethical copy that builds trust and drives sales for vegan and cruelty-free beauty brands."

↳ 2. Add an FAQ section.

List the questions you hear in discovery calls or emails and answer them clearly in full sentences.

That’s what AI tools pull from first.

↳ 3. Keep your story consistent.

When your messaging matches across your website, social media, and interviews, AI learns to trust you, and repeats your words.

↳ 4. Show your proof and your process.

Case studies, testimonials, and results help both people and AI understand your value.

That’s what builds confidence to invest in your work.

↳ 5. Write like someone’s listening.

Because they are.

Voice searches are rising. When you write like you’re answering out loud, AI recognizes the phrasing and tone.

That client didn’t find me because I 'beat' the algorithm. He found me because I spoke clearly, everywhere. Because I stay in my lane and ChatGPT knew who could deliver.

So, if someone asked AI today,

ā€œWho can explain our impact in a way our community immediately understands?ā€

or

ā€œWho can turn our raw footage into a compelling story that inspires people outside the bubble to care and act?ā€

Would your name come up?

If you want help with optimizing your website and online profiles, just hit reply to this email and let’s talk.

Create on and prosper,
🐾 Jessica šŸ€

P.S. I met this potential client for our first discovery call on October 31. After sending the proposal we had one follow up call, made one small adjustment in the proposal and in the T&Cs, and that was it. As I finished writing this mailing today, he sent the first monthly payment.

P.P.S. AI is far from perfect, although it can support ethical, conscious work when we guide it with intention. These tools learn from the information we share, so the more positive, accurate, and ethical our content is, the more responsibly they respond. That is why clarity matters.

Update on the LinkedIn case
After five attempts to receive confirmation beyond the first toggle, LinkedIn closed my case without answering my objection. I then submitted everything to the Irish Data Protection Commission. This was the logical next step, and I’ll update you once I hear back. It may take a little time.

Hi Reader, On Thursday, November 5, at 12pm EST (6pm CET), I’m joining Tourism Cares for ā€œTechnology and Sustainability: Advancing Meaningful Travel in the Modern Age.ā€ Destination leaders and technology innovators will look at how destinations use technology to influence traveler behavior and strengthen community connections, and at the tradeoffs of an increasingly digital future. I've been invited to be on the panel with Dan Flores (Satisfi Labs), Alexis Kreluk (ConnectSeven Group) and Xose...

Hi Reader, I’m joining a Tourism Cares panel on November 5 to talk about AI search in travel. So honored to get this invitation. If you work with travel brands, or run your own creative business in the travel industry, this one is especially for you. Travelers now plan trips by having deep conversations with an AI, and they often get a short list of names. A brand that isn’t on that list may not be considered. Your travel clients may soon ask you about it. What I love about this development...

Hi Reader, I keep having some version of this conversation with travel brand founders, so I'm putting it in writing here too. You already know travelers are asking AIs where to go. You may have also read that this kind of search barely sends any traffic to travel sites directly, and quietly moved it down the priority list. The traffic is there. It just doesn't look like it’s coming from ChatGPT, Claude, and co. Most travelers who get your name from an AI answer don't click through right then....
